Dr. Carlson spent the better part of his career working for the NYS Department of Health. In his role there, he oversaw the Department’s programs in occupational health and environmental exposure investigation as well as the operation of the state’s occupational health clinics.  Much of his work focused on the effects of human exposure to environmental chemicals. He also served as the project manager for major inter-disciplinary studies on the physical, chemical and biological dynamics of watersheds, with particular emphasis on relationships between land use and water quality. Dr. Carlson is past president of the Mohawk-Hudson Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers and past chairman of the Environmental Technical Group. He is past secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineers, NYS Council. He resides in Troy, NY.
