Advisory Board

Dr. Zhang’s research explores emerging topics in urban environmental pollution at the interface among climate change, extreme weather events, air pollution and health. Dr. Zhang earned a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Health, a M.A. degree in Statistics, and both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Environmental Engineering. The first area of Dr. Zhang’s research explores the health impact of natural disasters (e.g., heat wave, cold wave, hurricane and drought) that are predicted to occur more frequently in a changing climate. The second area of his research is to characterize urban exposome by developing state-of-the-art models to estimate exposures to environmental and occupational stressors using a multidisciplinary approach including data science, statistics, GIS, remote sensing, among others. The third area of his research is to apply GIS, spatial analysis and data science approaches in public health.
