NYCAMH Farm Safety Art Contest Winners Announced - December 5, 2023
Congratulations to the winners of NYCAMH's 2023 Farm Safety Art Contest! The annual contest garnered 34 entries from youth across the state, focused on this year's theme, "High Visibility – Be Safe by Being Seen." Entries communicated how farmworkers can make themselves more visible by wearing bright-colored, reflective, high-visibility clothing and by adding lighting and marking to equipment.
This year's competition was open to traditional print entries but also featured a new digital category, with youth being able to craft their designs digitally using the program of their choice. Pauline Boyer, NYCAMH's Outreach Supervisor, remarked, "I'm very excited to see this safety poster contest grow both in number of youth reached and with the addition of the digital submissions." The winners are as follows:

The final entry scores were based on the safety content, overall design, and text. Judges were impressed with the designs received, with Dahlia Sheehan-Yassin, Outreach Coordinator at NYCAMH, sharing, "It was a joy to see how students combined creative arts and safety education to create a unique work of art. I am already looking forward to next year's art contest. In conjunction with the competition, some classrooms of agricultural students opted for a supplemental virtual lesson on the topic of high visibility given by NYCAMH Agricultural Safety Educator Christina Day.
